OUR STORY

Where it all began…

The story of Daedalus Craft Cannabis started in 2018 when Emma and I, who met and fell in love in Hawaii, decided to move back to Maine. Growing up in the Portland area and always maintaining roots here in Maine, I made a plan to return home on a more full-time basis and decided to seek out a new career path after working for 15 years in the Telecommunications industry.

At that time, the Medical Cannabis industry was a burgeoning market in Maine. Together with Emma, and my father, Yorgo, we decided to change gears with some of our plans and I purchased a 20-acre farm in Biddeford, Maine, where the three of us began to explore the new possibilities of the cannabis cultivation world. We spent all of 2019 building out the necessary infrastructure we needed, converting old barn structures into grow rooms and clearing out a lot for our outdoor gardens. I was fortunate to reconnect with an old friend who had already started in the industry a few years prior. He became a mentor that first year, offering guidance and helping us develop our plan.

That’s when I was introduced to organic gardening and living soil cultivation. We spent most of the first year doing a couple small grows, both indoors and outdoors, just to learn more about this new and amazing process, and better understand the complexities of what we were growing and the challenges we faced with the environment around us. During that year, I also met Dylan, who is now our only team member outside the core family. Dylan, who previously worked in the cannabis industry in Oregon, was looking to find some similar opportunities here in Maine. He fit right in with our plans and soon became a vital part of our operation, always helping wherever needed and offering insight from his past experiences.
